They are often more interesting, but there are fewer of them, they are less connected to each other - as if they are occasional. The vast majority of the scenario, understood both as individual events and the continuity between them, is written under the guardians of Texas. And they can prove themselves the most. Often, being a bad character is doing things not foreseen by the scenario (e.g. cutting down a village).

I will not agree. I try to play each game at least twice. Sometimes as a law-abiding lolek, sometimes as a brood of Satan or at least a follower of moral relativism. And recently, almost every time I see no difference in the number of quests or choices (and bearing their consequences) while going through the main plot. Skyrim is an exception to this as karma points or any other character assessment have been completely dispensed with. Even the factions are not ambiguous (including the Dark Brotherhood). You do it wrong, go to jail or pay off, nobody makes a deal of it. Another step back from Oblivion. On the one hand, it's good, on the other ...
I will not agree either. Examplezik. Have you played Fallout 2 with a completely evil character from start to finish, but without the plasma rides and hey? Did you play Arcanum like that? Newer titles in New Vegas? Mass Effect series?

even a crap game? Hardcore.
I also play good games a few times. But for the first time, I usually play the positive character. It just opens up the most paths - mostly. I will refer to an example that we both know well - the new Fallouts. In Fallout 3, playing with a negative character was treated quite neglectfully - only in Vegas, where the authors had time to write the script because the engine and some of the graphics were ready, various paths were worked out. I repeat: game developers usually create a plot for such (good) characters in the first place, and they focus on other options when they have time (and usually they don't).
Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

I will not agree either. I can as well say that the plot for a good character was neglected.
Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It's a way of understanding it

What Spellu or Dworkin writes is true, but ... TES was not a game focused on interaction with NPCs. I kill a guard in front of the Jarl's headquarters, a person going to work comments that "oh what happened here", no attention with murder. In this case, is Skyrim played in order to watch the NPCs interact? I won't say, it would be nice, the game asks for it, but it's not the most important part of the game. As for me, Skyrim is dominated by quests. It's been a long time since I have played something that has such great tasks (devastatingly with one solution), extensive dungeons (so much that after 20+ it starts to be straight 30+ then you go with one hand in your pocket) and the atmosphere .
Every time you take one path, you must live with the memory of the other: of a life left unchosen.

The world is hot, but I wouldn't exaggerate with these cool quests. In fact, only thieves and murderers have fun quests. The imperial chain is boring (probably thunderbolts too), it is supposed to be medium (something for burqa lovers), mages are just starting out and their ass is not breaking off. For the time being, the main thread works. This game is a tuned-up Morek, the atmosphere is great, but in this case ... when some more interesting storylines came to pass ... there is still not enough.
There was only gold, and power, and the bodies of women, and steel.

In fact, I was like that, but I started to discover the charms of learning the game through the prism of doing bad deeds.

If you were satisfied with the ability to play F3 with a motherfucker, that means you are playing with a weak motherfucker.

But the same can be said for the paladin who was left by his uncle.
And Megaton did not start by itself ...
Let's go back to Fallout 2. There, playing a bad character to the core was much more interesting and better written than playing a good character. Same in Arcanum.

With Fallout 2, I agree with you - it's as you wrote. But there is one problem - Fallout 2 in its cool (and not only in badass playing but also in absurd jokes, references, playing with many conventions) is unrepresentative in this respect for other roles. Besides, another issue - note that Fallout 2 is also a case in which the entire game engine (graphics, most of the music, system) was already made, so the developers could focus practically only on the script. Confirmation of my thesis.
