"With a single spell" - do I know if it's so good? Actually read it
will give, but nothing else.
"Enchantment" (Orson Scott Card) is quite interesting because of its allusion
to several fairy tales (Sleeping Beauty, Baba Yaga) combined with elements of mythology
Slavic (Russian, it seems to be exactly).
I really like "Daughter of the Iron Dragon" (Michael Swanwick) - fantasy + technique +
elements of onirism. And sex
As a curiosity I can recommend "Frankenstein" (Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley) -
so far I have associated Frankenstein only with the scene of recovery
monster using pyroprene and the scene where the villagers with torches set fire
the windmill in which the monster hid. This is NOT in the book.
Videos very much
made the prototype shallow.
I also like Michael Ende's books - especially "Momo" and "Never Ending
history ". Maybe items for younger people, but I love them anyway: P
Oh yes! "The Never Ending Story" is a book that reminds me of my childhood! I adore her!
As for fantasy, I recommend Fiona McIntosh's books for an older reader. I have just read "The Royal Exile" (volume 1 of the Valisar trilogy) - the book perfectly suited my expectations! There is politics and there is magic (although the theme of magic is outlined for now and its development promises to be in the next volumes). I'm waiting for the next parts!

Kaya's "Fionavaru Tapestry", Beagle's "Last Unicorn". Humor: "On the trail
unicorn "Resnick and Kuttner's stories. The best heroic fantasy; series by Fr.
Kana Wagner and Lustbader about the Sunset Warrior.

And I recommend "Achaya" trilogy, the first two volumes are amazing for me 3
already a bit weaker. I also recommend "Mr. Ice Garden" and look forward to 2
the volume of the premiere for 2007, but somehow I haven't got it yet. Another book,
I just finished the Shadow March. Also very interesting and addictive
the book is to be the second volume soon, it is only not on the Polish market yet
a pity because now I'm looking for something to do.

Nothing beats Martin with "A Piece of Ice and Fire" and Erikson with "The Malazan Book
Of the Fallen "... For me, these books are the best in fantasy.
Someone would recommend either individual books or whole series, similar or at least
keeping the level of the mentioned masterpieces?
Or maybe the equivalents of such books in SF?

- Mercedes Lackey's books about the Heralds of Valdemar - good and pleasant to read,
- Belgariada and Malloreon series by David Eddings - simplifications in "construction"
individual lands, but once you start reading, it's hard to break away,
- Raymond E. Feist's novels, which take place on two worlds: Midkemia
and Kelewans - sometimes I was disturbed by too elaborate descriptions of magic

Nobody mentioned, surprisingly, Issac Asimov and his book series "The Foundation".
In my opinion, a revelation.
In addition, "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, a great book with a surprising
ending.
Dune, it was already about it, but it's worth repeating, because it's a classic ...
That's as much as I can think of now.

Each book is different, and for different reasons they like it. De gustibus ...
Write what books you like and liked (not only or not necessarily
fantastic) and possibly add why, maybe I could feel a little bit in you and
advice for further reading ...

Temeraire Naomi Novik cycle. Such a combination of a historical novel
(Napoleonic wars, some real battles) from fantasy (ubiquitous
dragons). Two parts have been released in Poland, three will come out in March (me

I recommend as soon as possible the whole series of "A Song of Ice and Fire", probably the best series
ever created.
