D2 is definitely better than 1 and has a great potential for "replayability". Although 4 times it is a lot even by the old standards.

I carved a necromancer aided by polymorphism, which in two turns was able to clear the battlefield on its own. Exactly. The most interesting characters to play are Sebilla (elf), Lhose (demon-possessed people) and of course Fane (undead). The elves and the undead have the most interesting mechanics.

And you have a trick a bit like with Arcanum. You can kill the guy and interrogate his ghost, then devour his source and thus destroy him // spell
