because MGS4 is a failure and I also say it as a fan of the series. : roll:

I have so many games lying on the shelf and looming on the horizon, and since the passing of the Portal 2 championship, I do not feel like doing anything, because nothing seems to be able to compare with it. I'm just waiting for Diablo 3 and can't wait
Would you like me to put you out of your misery, before I put you out of your misery?

I bought a console for her and I don't regret it. While it's not my favorite part, I don't find it weak.

I agree with Jander - it's not the best part of the series, but MGS4 is a really great game and a nice addition to the whole story. And the fourth act is a masterpiece.

You need to know that I am widely known all over the Internet for my uncompromising criticism of this game. It's my curse that this topic hits me everywhere on the web. Will we discuss it? //whip

We can, but if your avatar is from Portable Ops and you keep telling me that this game is better than four, we can shake hands and go right away: P

After all, love is close to hate. ;)
I understand the accusations there, but I do not think that it is possible to reach such far-reaching conclusions as that this game is a failure. And it defends itself in comparison with other games on current-genes (which suit me less than the games of the two previous generations).
Black - avatar from Peace (Piss) Walker - part better than four. :) I would rather not enter into deeper discussions.

Of course you are right, the degradation of the universe started with Portable Ops. Avek is just a great art by Ash Wood, the coolest I know with Big Boss, and also suitable for forums - the game is tragic.

Well, in my opinion, MGS4 destroyed everything that was valuable in the series from a fictional perspective, answering every question asked by fans over the years with one word - nanomachines. The very running of the plot is the bottom line, I already preferred classic codec conversations than subsequent "lectures" that were given to us by key characters during the game. Ugh, come back; movie inserts. Ugh; slide shows. I will remain silent about Johnny and Meryl in the final act.

Let me put it this way. Over the years of dealing with the fandom, I have read many more satisfying theories and answers to the questions posed by the previous installments of the game, and I myself was the author of many. In my opinion, what Kojima did is a cheek to the fans because the level of plot we got compared to the previous parts and expectations is a mockery.
The problem is that in trying to end the story in a complementary way, the story has fallen into ridiculousness and shallowness. This is the problem that applies to all media productions that base their charm on mystery and riddles (LOST - Lost, is the best analogy), because when you start to answer them, there is nothing left but the viewer's profession. (By the way, I think LOST has chosen a better way, ending the story of the heroes, but leaving the island's secrets intact and to be figured out by any attentive viewer on his own.)
Okay, I guess that's a very subjective opinion after all. The objective thing is that even by Japanese standards and what the series has gotten us used to, part four is simply funny instead of serious by the scale of the absurd.

Now it's just the facts - gameplay, setting and performance.
As for the former, there is of course zero progress compared to the predecessors. Not making progress in this industry is going backwards.
Graphically, the game presented a good level at the time of its release, but we are only talking about graphics in the strict sense. However, in general, the eyes were struck by the disastrous animations straight from the early years of the previous generation (which in the three could still be forgiven) and the weak design and architecture of the environment. Why, it's a brick-and-mortar copy-and-paste game. Vampires with a Euclidean taint would not live long in the world of 90-degree angles, but Vampa probably saved nanomachines. ;)
The technical execution is the bottom, the ubiquitous loading and these pathological installations revealed the absolute inability of the Kojima team to adapt to the new generation.

All in all, I am convinced that all positive opinions about this game are due only to Konami's efficient marketing, hype and fan sentiment, which overshadows the possibility of a reasonable assessment. So, ultimately, in the face of legitimate expectations, this game is a failure. If not for the three letters in the title, no one would even notice it.

I'm pretty sure it's the Big Boss from Peace Walker, but I could be wrong. :)
I think you will find as many nanomachines in the fourth part as there are genes in the first and memes in the second. In addition, nanomachines explained the issues started in this part rather than the entire series (Patriots, however, were not explained with nanomachines, and this is the most important continuation thread; Vamp, Naomi, Big Boss are add-ons without which the game could live).
The biggest disadvantage, however, is that it is the end of the series. It's VERY difficult to get a decent ending to a series of games - at the moment I can't think of any game ending the series properly. It seems to me that a major disadvantage is the failure to meet the requirements that would be almost impossible to meet. LOST didn't live up to it either - some people hated the series because of the ending, I found the ending okay, and so did MGS. But it wasn't the kind of shit that the biggest fans were expecting. So far, one production is doing well - Fringe.
Please ... Really? Talks with MGS2?

All in all, I think Kojima and the team did not cope with the pressure of the last, and so to say the most important, part of the series. If it wasn't the ending, it would even be bearable - like a weak MGS2. Unfortunately, they made the part weaker than the previous one, which is hard to forgive. I'm not going to cheat that some solutions are just plain shit and deserve a penal dick, but similar is the case with other Productions by a big P. Such GT5 has failed in many ways, but it's still a great game. Unfortunately, the lower level of Japanese productions can be seen with the naked eye, the latest Final Fantasy was not even touched by a friend's relationship. However, has the game not given me satisfaction? Did I have a bad time knowing the whole plot? Has it spoiled my view of the series? Three times no. Another thing is that I don't expect such good series as MGS. That's why I'm waiting for MGS HD, because I know that there will not be such good scripts and characters anymore. So much.
Mortals cannot perceive me with the physical eye whilst in my pure form unless it is of my choosing, for it would result in fatality, which begs the question of why you are an exception.

Avek is (was) for sure with MPO, maybe he was the same in PW, I don't know, I didn't play, I don't care. ;)

You see, we must be a different kind of fan apparently because I don't share the widespread criticism of MGS2. For me, the story was the pinnacle of the saga, great piercing of the fourth wall combined with memetic undertones. Of course, the Codec conversations between Raiden and Rosemary are pathological, but unlike the engagement and wedding of Maryl of the four, it was directly part of the multi-layered plot twist in the two.
As for the conduct of the plot of the four (leading - not the plot), I have a grudge that all this was done according to a pattern so pounding in the eyes that it is impossible to pass by it indifferently. This is best illustrated by the example of all the Beautiful Beasts. The worst bosses in history, because they are expressionless; practically no interaction with the hero, no information, only after defeating one of them Drebin reports and gives us a lecture about who she was. Dry tremendously. So does the rest of the translations for the intricacies of the plot. Just like lectures with a boring professor.
I realize that this is a very subjective assessment, but I have lost my face with each successive cut-scene, and I have never had such a disappointment in my experience with story games. Maybe because there is no point in looking for anything similar to MGS. However, this is no excuse for Kojimi for the silly ideas on which this part is based.

What else? Ah, that's it, you reminded me of the announced resume in pseudo HD. You see, since MGS: AFTER this series is full of commercialism. They spit out successive titles regardless of the canon, making it a crap that cannot be put together anymore, because the details cease to fit. It is true that this only applies to the PSP part, but $$$ are also seen in the four. Because this part is nothing more than a surreptitious advertisement for Apple products, a new Triumph model or some Japanese Regen'er drinks. I am a man who chases people carrying leaflets around blocks with a knife, so it's hard not to point it out as a disadvantage. Excluding certain specific genres of art, commercialism simply does not go hand in hand with the author's vision, so it's hard for me to judge Kojime other than as a commercial pig, which is something she constantly expresses without being able to deviate from the series, which is now only a marketing label. Unfortunately, MGS4 had the honor of tipping the scales to this side.
One day, you will be old enough to start reading fairytales again.

I have already commented on nanomachines - if you made a movie from one, you would have genes and a legendary hero (who does not feel like a hero, and the war is bad blah blah blah), in two memes (or Patriots who rule everything blah blah blah).
In MGS2, conversations not only with Rosemary are pathological - after all, the WHOLE plot is played by codec there. Emma, ??the bomb smack, that agent Ames, the president, Patriots. Conversations like - hello, I have important information for you, turn on codec. Besides, stealth has almost ended in the game since saving the president - the second part of Big Shell is about action, shooting, bosses, talking. The game ends practically in the middle of the game. For me, this is the weakest part, but of the genre - I would play it anyway.
You haven't played PW - well, it's a bit of a spin-off in the plot, but the gameplay idea, originality, bosses - it's a good part for me, better than four. I do not judge graphically, because it is a PSP. I enjoyed playing it, I didn't complain. I dropped out on additional missions by the difficulty level. Of which 3 or 4 were not a problem for me at the maximum level.
